Vehicle Description This 1976 Cadillac Eldorado Convertible is a nicely preserved survivor that is absolutely loaded with options! 1976 marked the end of an era for the luxury GM marque, with Cadillac producing its last convertible (that is, until Cadillac introduced the Allante in 1987).
In fact, Cadillac's own marketing materials in 1976 called the '76 Eldo Convertible the last American production convertible.
Of course, that claim became an issue, leading to an unsuccessful lawsuit by Cadillac buyers, when Chrysler released its 1982 LeBaron which came in a convertible.
When the last Eldorado Convertible rolled off the production line on Wednesday April 21, 1976, it was a momentous and newsworthy day with major news broadcasting Cadillac Division GM Edward C.
Kennard and Manufacturing Manager Bud Brawner actually driving the car, with a Michigan vanity plate reading Last, off the production line.
All of the hoopla associated with the Last Convertible helped raise convertible sales for Cadillac in 1976, with the GM marque producing 14,000 units, over 5,000 more than the previous year Eldorado.
The look of the 1976 Eldorado remained largely unchanged from '75 to '76, with a few minor trim changes.
Under the hood on this '76 Cadillac Convertible is a 500 Cubic Inch V8 engine paired with a single 4 barrel carburetor that pushed out 190 horsepower when new.
A Hydra-Matic Automatic Transmission backs the 500 V8 and ensures that anybody can take this land yacht for a spin around the block.
Being that this is a Cadillac, it is totally loaded with options! With power disc brakes, this Eldorado Convertible has plenty of stopping power for that big Cadillac engine under the hood.
Power steering makes maneuvering this big convertible in and out of tight spaces much easier.
The white vinyl power convertible top is outfitted with a glass back window and goes up and down with the simple flick of a switch.
Cruise control is always a welcome on addition on any classic car and makes long cruises much more enjoyable.
Air conditioning ensures that you'll stay cool while cruising even on the hottest summer days.
Riding on thin whitewall radial tires with full wheel discs, this 1976 Eldorado has a great look and even better ride.
The exterior on this '76 Cadillac Convertible is correctly finished in beautiful Phoenician Ivory paint.
The chrome and brightwork around the exterior of this Eldo is in wonderful condition as well.
The front split bench seat and rear bench are correctly upholstered in white leather, and the front seats are 6-way power operated and work great.
The dash, door panels, black carpeting and steering wheel all appear to be in their stock configuration and are in great shape.
The steering wheel is equipped with a tilt column to make it much more comfortable getting in and out of this convertible.
All 4 windows are power windows that go up and down with ease.
Like the front seats, windows, and convertible top, the door locks and trunk lock are powered as well.
The trunk is equipped with an electric pulldown as well.
The dash is equipped with a 100 MPH speedometer, fuel gauge and clock, and the radio has been upgraded to a retro-style AM/FM/Bluetooth entertainment system so that you can listen to your tunes and talk on the phone hands-free while cruising down the road.
Whether you're buying your first classic car or you're adding to your existing Cadillac collection this 1976 Cadillac Eldorado Convertible would make an excellent choice.
