Vehicle Description This 1960 Dodge Matador Station Wagon is a gorgeous, futuristic-looking people hauler with great options and southern history.
In 1960, Dodge saw a significant uptick in sales moving from its previously held 8th place to 6th place in the sales race, likely due in part to its introduction the Dart.
With the introduction of the new Dart, Dodge in a sense reorganized its passenger car lineup with the Dart (and its 3 sub-series) occupying the smaller wheelbase and lower cost end of the spectrum, and the Matador and Polara becoming the full-size options.
While the Polara was the top-of-the-line model for Dodge in 1960, the Matador served as the so-called entry-level Dodge in '60.
However, based on their looks, the Matadors hardly looked like an entry-level car especially with a single piece of chrome running the length of the side of the car and the futuristic fins on the rear quarter panels that capped in chrome and a reflector.
The interiors was also quite luxurious in appearance with copious amounts of trim and accents.
Of all of the Matadors, the Station Wagons were the most expensive and tipped the scales at over 4,000 pounds.
This particular Matador Station Wagon comes to us from a southern based collector who clearly took great care of this gorgeous people mover.
Under the hood on this Matador is an upgraded 413 Cubic Inch V8 engine paired with an Edelbrock single 4 barrel carburetor.
Exhaust exits the NOM 413 CID V8 a dual exhaust setup that has a nice throaty sound.
The 413 V8 is mated to a pushbutton-operated Automatic Transmission that makes this classy wagon an easy car for anybody to drive.
Further adding the ease of driving this Dodge wagon is the fact that it is equipped with power steering which makes maneuvering the 122 inch wheelbase on this Mopar station wagon a total breeze.
With power front disc brakes, bringing this Dodge Matador to a complete stop is also made much easier, especially with all that extra horsepower under the hood.
This 1960 Dodge wagon is also equipped with an auxillary roof rack should you need even more storage beyond the roomy interior.
Another great option on this '60 Matador station wagon is the power-operated rear window that goes up and down smoothly with the simple flick of a switch.
Riding on a set of wide whitewall radial tires with full wheelcovers, this '60 Dodge Station Wagon has a great look and even better ride.
The exterior on this Matador wagon has been refinished in a beautiful two-tone paint scheme consisting of Cocoa Metallic and Cloud beige.
The interior on this Dodge Matador is absolutely stunning! The front and rear bench seat have been beautifully reupholstered in Copper and Ivory vinyl.
The padded dash, matching door panels and carpeting, and sparkly clear-acrylic steering wheel are in fantastic condition and appear to be in their stock configuration.
