Vehicle Description This 1956 Chevrolet Corvette is a beautifully restored C1 convertible with tasteful modern upgrades and it is ready to your summer cruiser! What started as the 1952 EX-122 Motorama Show Car, the 1953 Corvette was first built on June 30, 1953, with few changes from its early show car design.
In the years that followed, the early design was carried forward with several modest stylistic revisions and the introduction of a V8 engine in 1955.
In 1956, the Corvette underwent its first major body style redesign.
While the basic tooth grille stayed the same, the '56 Corvette received new front fenders accented by chrome-rimmed exposed headlights.
Down the sides, the new 1956 Corvette also received its first external door handles and the recognizable sculptured concave coves which became an iconic attribute of the C1 generation of Corvettes.
The interiors in 1956 remained similar to the previous year models, however, the addition of roll-up windows was a wonderful addition to the latest version of Corvette.
The other major update occurred under the hood with the elimination of the Inline 6 cylinder engine option and therefore only a V8 was available in 1956.
With total production comprising of 3,467 Corvettes in 1956, this particular example is an especially rare automobile.
Under the hood on this '56 Corvette is an upgraded 350 Cubic Inch V8 fed by an Edelbrock Single 4 Barrel Carburetor.
The Crate 350 is backed by an Automatic Transmission ensuring that just about anyone can take this first generation Corvette for a spin around the block.
Exhaust exits the 350 Crate motor via a dual exhaust setup that gives this 'Vette a nice throaty sound out the back.
In addition to the motor and transmission, the previous owner installed several desirable modern upgrades.
With an upgraded HEI distributor and ignition system, firing up this Corvette and the overall driving experience is much improved than what was originally available back in 1956.
A modern alternator in chrome housing is a nice engine dress up option and provides improved electrical system performance while cruising.
The original master cylinder was also replaced with a dual master cylinder for more reliable braking.
This 1956 Corvette rides on a set of brand new Coker Wide Whitewall Radial tires paired with Spinner-Style Full Wheelcovers for a fantastic looking and riding car.
The White Vinyl Convertible top is manually operated and is in wonderful condition.
The exterior has been refinished in in a beautiful Polo White paint that is accented by Red painted coves which complete the exterior look of the C1 Convertible.
The interior on this 1956 Chevy is absolutely gorgeous! The front bucket seats have been reupholstered in Red vinyl with White piping that gives this Corvette a tastefully custom look inside.
The red carpeting, door panels, and steering wheel look great and all appear to be in their stock configuration.
The dash on this Corvette also retains a mostly stock look with a 140 MPH speedometer, oil pressure gauge, battery gauge, temperature gauge, and fuel gauge, along with a clock.
The original tachometer has been replaced with a more modern digital version and the original AM radio was replaced with a retro-style AM/FM system as well.
Whether you're adding to your Corvette collection or you're buying your first classic Corvette, this 1956 Chevrolet Corvette would make an excellent choice.
