Vehicle Description This 1958 Chevrolet Corvette is a beautifully restored convertible with long-term enthusiast ownership and is ready to be your new summer cruiser! When Chevrolet debuted the EX-122 Motorama Show Car in 1952, few could have expected what a smashing success it would become in the years that followed.
By 1958, the iconic Chevy Corvette was due for a major stylistic update and that's just what the GM marque did.
In fact, the 1958 Corvette was the most jazzed-up 'Vette up until that point.
Perhaps the most notable changes included the addition of louvers in the hood and a pair of chrome bars running down the deck lid.
Also new in 1958 was the switchover from a single headlight to a dual headlight design, which was due to a change in US regulations.
There were also some less noticeable changes made to the Corvette in 1958.
While the grilles retained a similar design from the previous year, four of the vertical teeth were removed leading to a cleaner look up front.
Chevrolet also added three horizontal chrome strips to the side coves, further adding to the overall pizazz of the new '58 Corvette.
The bumpers, front and rear, were enlarged a bit as well.
The interiors were also considerably refreshed.
A new dash and instrument cluster design were a major highlight of the new '58 interiors.
A passenger grab bar was also added and would be seen in future Corvette iterations.
The waffle-pattern upholstery was also replaced in favor or a more modern-looking pleated pattern, that would also be carried forward in the years that followed.
This particular 1958 Corvette comes to us from a collector who has owned and cared for the car for the past 30 years.
Powering this '58 Corvette is a 327 Cubic Inch V8 engine fed by a Holley single 4 barrel carburetor.
The NOM 327 V8 is mated to a 4 speed manual transmission that is shifted via a floor mounted Hurst shifter, making this 'Vette an absolute blast to drive.
Exhaust is sent out the rear tailpipes via a dual exhaust setup that gives the car nice throaty sound.
Riding on a set of whitewall radial tires paired with full wheelcovers, this 1958 Corvette has a great look and even better ride.
The white vinyl convertible top is in terrific condition and is manually operated with ease.
The chrome and brightwork around the exterior of this '58 Chevy is in wonderful shape and looks great! The fiberglass body on this 1958 Corvette has been refinished in beautiful Signet Red accented by white painted coves, completing the exterior look of the car.
The interior on this 1958 'Vette is gorgeous! The buckets seats have been reupholstered in beautiful red vinyl.
The dash, door panels, steering wheel and carpet are all in fantastic shape and appear to be in their stock configuration.
The instrument cluster is equipped with a 160 MPH speedometer, 6,000 RPM tachometer, oil pressure gauge, battery gauge, temperature gauge, and fuel gauge.
Above the floor mounted shifter is a Wonderbar AM radio, clock, and controls for the defroster.
Whether you're buying your first classic Corvette or you're adding to an existing collection, this 1958 Chevrolet Corvette would make an excellent choice.
