Ford intended for the new Mustang to be a cool-looking, sporty, and fun car to drive with a modest price tag targeted at the market of younger buyers.
After the first year and half of Mustang sales, the youth-oriented car was a massive success and it was clear that Mustang was here to stay.
And, the Mustang essentially kicked off an entirely new sub-category of the emerging muscle car genre, the Pony Car.
