Vehicle Description This 1960 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible is a beautifully restored C-1 Corvette that is ready for some serious cruising! When the Corvette was initially introduced in 1953, it featured a novel, yet practical, fiberglass body with body lines reminiscent of the European sports cars that were dominating at the time.
The overall design was based on the 1952 EX-122 show car and was one of the only Motorama Dream Cars to go into production with very few styling revisions.
In the years that followed, the Corvette saw a number of updates including the introduction of a V8 engine, additional color options, extra creature comforts, and more performance-oriented options.
By the time 1960 rolled around, Chevrolet's Corvette had cemented itself as America's Sports Car-a car that could keep up on the track on Sundays but also be driven to the office Monday morning.
The 1960 Corvette was left mostly unchanged from the previous year's design, which was, at the time, the most popular Corvette produced; that is, until 1960.
Rather than changing the gorgeous body lines, the 1960 Corvette saw incremental mechanical updates such as an updated suspension system that improved handling.
Interestingly, the '60 'Vette was the final year that the Corvette sported the chrome heavy teeth styling in the grille and the last to feature the molded taillights in the rear quarter panels.
The 1960 Corvette was further popularized by the Route 66 television show where Martin Milner and George Maharis drove a '60 Corvette across the country.
Moreover, the Corvette continued its sales success in 1960 when Chevrolet sold over 10,000 Corvettes for the very first time in the GM marque's history.
Under the hood on this '60 Corvette is an upgraded 350 Cubic Inch V8 engine underneath an Edelbrock aluminum intake and Edelbrock single 4 barrel carburetor.
The NOM 350 V8 is mated to a 4 speed manual transmission that makes this C1 'Vette an absolute blast to drive! Exhaust exits the later model 350 Chevy through a dual exhaust setup that gives this Corvette a nice throaty sound.
Power is sent to the rear wheels via a Positraction rear axle, ensuring that you'll be able to keep the rubber to the pavement when driving this classic Chevy sports car.
The white vinyl soft convertible top is in wonderful condition and is manually operated easily by a single person.
This 1960 Corvette rides on a set of wide whitewall bias-ply tires paired with a set of full spinner-style wheelcovers, which gives this Chevrolet a truly classy look.
The fiberglass body on this Corvette is finished in a beautiful Tuxedo Black that is accented by silver painted side coves.
The interior on this 1960 Corvette is gorgeous! The bucket seats have been reupholstered in black vinyl and they are in excellent condition.
The black carpeting, black and silver door panels, and black vinyl padded dash and grab bar are all in wonderful shape as well and appear to be in their stock configuration.
The dash is equipped with a 160 MPH speedometer, 7,000 RPM tachometer, temperature gauge, battery gauge, oil pressure gauge, and fuel gauge, as well as a clock and a Wonderbar AM radio.
Whether you're adding to your Corvette collection or you're purchasing your first classic Corvette, this 1960 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible would make an excellent choice.
