Vehicle Description This 1970 Dodge Charger is a wonderfully restored, strong running Mopar that has been cherished and cared for by the same owner for over 30 years.
When the Charger made its debut in 1966, it marked Dodge's entry into the Fastback craze of the mid-Sixties and the early Chargers shared a chassis with the more conservative-looking Coronet.
The first big body-style change occurred in 1968 when Dodge's design began to shift away from a true fastback and replaced the Charger's body lines with a more semi-fastback look.
1970 was arguably the pinnacle of the muscle car era in terms of both design and performance, and the original recipie for a muscle car required an intermediate-sized with an overpowered engine.
In 1970, Dodge's intermediate sized cars were the basic Coronet and the more luxurious Charger.
The 1970 Charger carried forward much of the same body styling from '68 and '69 however with the addition of the new grille design and additional trim, the '70 Chargers had a truly iconic coke-bottle design.
At the nose, a new chrome bumper now completely surrounded the entire grille and the headlights got tucked behind the new-look grille as well.
At the rear of the 1970 Chargers, the taillights spanned nearly the width of the car but got a modest facelift from the previous year as well.
This particular Charger comes to us from a private collector who owned the car for over 30 years and who oversaw the car's professional restoration.
Powering this '70 Charger is an upgraded 440 Cubic Inch Magnum V8 engine paired with a single 4 barrel carburetor that sits atop an Edelbrock aluminum intake.
The NOM 440 Magnum is backed by a 727 Torqueflite Automatic Transmission that makes this Mopar muscle car easy for anybody to drive and enjoy.
Exhaust exits the 440 V8 via a dual exhaust setup that gives this Charger a nice throaty sound coming out the back.
Riding on a set of Magnum 500 Wheels with BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires, this classic Dodge muscle car has a fantastic look and even better ride.
This '70 Dodge Charger comes loaded with creature comforts! Power steering is always a welcome option on any classic muscle car because it makes getting in and out of tight spaces much easier and improves the overall driving experience.
You'll be able to stay cool on even the hottest summer days while enjoying this Charger because of the factory air conditioning featuring an upgraded later model R134a compressor unit.
The exterior of this 1970 Dodge has been correctly refinished in Light Green Metallic paint giving the car a truly period correct look.
The white vinyl roof is in wonderful condition as well and provides a nice visual contrast to exterior appearance of this classic Mopar muscle car.
The interior on this 1970 Charger is absolutely stunning! The front bucket seats and rear bench seat have been reupholstered in dark green vinyl accented by white vinyl inserts.
The padded dash, door panels, steering wheel, and center console all appear to be in fantastic condition and retain a mostly stock look.
The dash is equipped with a 150 MPH speedometer, 6,000 RPM tachometer with integrated clock, fuel gauge, temperature gauge, oil pressure gauge, and alternator gauge.
A Suntune 8,000 RPM tachometer and upgraded AM/FM/CD entertainment system was added as well for improved performance and comfort.
Whether you're adding to your Mopar collection or you're buying your first classic car, this 1970 Dodge Charger would make an excellent choice.
