Vehicle Description This 1956 Chevrolet Bel Air features a great color combination and several performance upgrades, which make this a fantastic 50s cruiser! The Tri-Five era for Chevrolet began with the introduction a completely redesigned Bel Air in 1955.
In November 1955, Chevrolet debuted its second iteration of its Tri-Five Bel Air to its dealers.
The new '56 Bel Airs featured new designs both inside and out.
On the outside, the 1956 Bel Air featured a newly redesigned full-width chrome grille that sat below a redesigned hood that was flatter and longer.
The new look hood were also appointed with the iconic accentuated V treatment, something that would be carried forward.
Down both sides of the '56 Bel Airs were a new chrome side trim that featured a painted insert and ran nearly the full length of the car at the beltline and swept down at the rear.
Perhaps the most famous exterior update on the new 1956 Bel Air was the placement of the hidden gas filler cap which, in true 50s fashion, is tucked behind the driver's side tail light.
Being that the Bel Air sat atop the Chevrolet passenger car hierarchy, the interiors on the 1956 Bel Air was considered the plushest, most luxurious, and well-optioned across the GM marque's passenger car line.
The Bel Air's interior trim had a truly elevated look, comparable to most luxury cars of the day.
They also came equipped with fantastic options as standard equipment including a clock and lockable gloveboxes, both of which were considered big of luxuries back in 1956.
Under the hood on this '56 Chevy is an upgraded 350 Cubic Inch V8 engine sitting below an Edelbrock aluminum intake and a single 4 barrel carburetor.
Exhaust exits the NOM 350 V8 via a Magnaflow dual exhaust setup that gives this Bel Air a fantastic throaty sound.
The Chevy 350 V8 is backed by a TH350 Automatic Transmission that makes this 2 door hardtop a car that just about anybody can take for some serious cruising.
Riding on a set of wide whitewall radial tires paired with full Chevrolet wheelcovers, this 1956 Bel Air has a great look and even better ride.
A single chrome outside mirror is always a welcome addition on any classic car since it makes maneuvering a full-size 50s cruiser, like this one, in and out of tight spaces much easier.
The exterior on this '56 Bel Air 2 door hardtop has been refinished in a gorgeous two-tone paint scheme consisting of Matador Red and India Ivory.
The interior on this 1956 Chevrolet is stunning! The front and rear bench seats have been reupholstered in red vinyl with beige patterned cloth inserts which gives this Tri-Five Chevy a nice period correct look.
Further adding to that period appearance is the addition of Fingerhut-style plastic seat covers, just like your grandmother's Chevrolet! The painted dash, matching upholstered door panels, full-size steering wheel and red carpeting are all in fantastic shape and appear to be in a stock configuration.
The dash is equipped with a 110 MPH speedometer, temperature gauge, and fuel gauge, along with a clock and upgraded retro-style AM/FM/Cassette entertainment system.
A trifecta of AutoGage underdash gauges are mounted neatly under the dash and consist of an oil pressure gauge, volt gauge, and water temperature gauge.
Whether you're buying your first classic car or you're adding to your Tri-Five Chevy collection, this 1956 Chevrolet Bel Air 2 door hardtop would make an excellent choice.
