Vehicle Description This 1956 Chevrolet Corvette underwent an extensive professional restoration and is ready to be enjoyed! 1956 was a landmark year for Chevy's sports car, the Corvette, when it took a major leap forward.
When production for the 1956 edition began on November 4, 1955, the Corvettes produced were unlike any previous year models.
The '56 Corvette bodies were redesigned with European styling influence under the direction of Clare MacKichan, with new front fenders, chrome rimmed headlights, new concave side body coves, and new rear quarters with integrated taillights.
The only thing that seemed to stay the same from the previous year was the grille, except that the '56 grilles' teeth were a bit slimmer.
Another big addition to the 1956 Corvette was that for the first time, the Corvette had crank up windows (as opposed to the cumbersome side curtains), an optional hardtop, and external door handles, all of which made Chevy's sports car a bit more practical and more stylish.
Besides the updated exteriors, perhaps the most significant update Chevrolet made to the 1956 Corvette was that the 6 cylinder engine option was eliminated in '56 and instead the 'Vette was only offered a 265 V8 and, for the first time ever, a dual 4 barrel performance-oriented carburetor option was offered as well.
This particular Corvette comes to us from the hands of prominent collectors after having underwent an extensive professional restoration.
Under the hood on this '56 Corvette is a 265 Cubic Inch V8 engine paired with dual 4 barrel carburetors that was said to have created 225 horsepower when new.
The 265 V8 is backed by 3 speed manual transmission that makes this C1 Corvette an absolute blast to drive.
Exhaust exits the dual quad engine through the rear chrome bumper via a dual exhaust setup that gives this car a great 'Vette sound.
Riding on wide whitewall radial tires with spinner hubcaps, this '56 Corvette has a great look and even better ride.
The chrome and brightwork around the exterior of this 1956 C1 are in fantastic condition and show well.
The exterior on this 56 Corvette has been refinished in a beautiful Onyx Black paint and the side coves have been refinished in Silver.
Included with the sale of this Corvette is a matching Onyx Black hardtop which has a great appearance as well.
The interior on this Corvette is stunning! The bucket seats have been reupholstered in red vinyl with the correct '56 pattern.
The dash, door panels, carpet and steering wheel are similarly refinished in red and have a great look as well.
The dash is equipped with a 140 MPH speedometer, 6,000 RPM tachometer, oil pressure gauge, battery gauge, temperature gauge, fuel gauge, clock and push-button AM radio.
Whether you're buying your first classic Corvette or you want to add another to your collection, this 1956 Chevrolet Corvette would make an excellent choice.
